What is a Baby Café?

A “Baby Café” or “Baby Bistro” is a free drop in group for new moms and babies offered at local hospitals and clinics and facilitated by an international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC).  At a Baby Café you can weigh your baby and get all your breastfeeding questions answered while in a relaxing environment with other new moms and babies.

La Leche League International Resources:

La Leche League International (LLLI) has been supporting breastfeeding mothers for over 50 years. The services they provide are always free. The LLLI operates a toll-free telephone helpline (1-800-525-3243) from 9 am to 5 pm CST. This line is answered by a person who refers callers to specially trained mothers in their area.

The Como Clinic Breastfeeding Center has breastfeeding specialists that are board certified and have special training to provide mothers and babies with lactation support. To make an appointment with a breastfeeding specialist you can call 952-967-7955. The specialists are available for personal visits at the Como clinic or over the phone, whatever works best for you.

Babyline is staffed by OB/GYN RN’s who focus on the needs of expectant parents and new parents of babies up to 6 weeks of age. They are available 24 hours a day at 612-333-2229 or 800-845-9297.

Pregnancy & Postpartum Support MN is a group of mental health and perinatal practitioners, service organizations and mother volunteers who provide services to those needing pregnancy and postpartum support.  They have a helpline, provider lists, peer support, resource lists and a website.

Park Nicollett:
Park Nicollet offers a twice-monthly support group for new moms to connect with others experiencing similar feelings. Groups are facilitated by two experienced female therapists, skilled in helping and supporting women struggling with emotional concerns after having a baby. Groups meet at the St. Louis Park Clinic, 3800 Building, 7th Floor Dwan A; 2nd and 4th Mondays every month from noon to 12:45. For more information, call 952-993-3307.
